July's MC is Alexander Sparrow
Alexander is an award-winning comedian, actor, director, writer, and MC. He has featured on TVNZ’s Breakfast, TV3’s The Project, and PRIME TV’s Back Benches; and in The Wall Street Journal (US).
Previous solo shows include de Sade, Fred From Featherston, ENIGMA, DJ Trump, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Provocateur.
Alexander is also a prize-winning short story writer. He has been published in the UK, Canada, and has work forthcoming in the US.
Our July headliner is Dave Wiggins. After being voted Best Newcomer by the NZ Comedy Guild in 2003 Dave went onto become a regular on the NZ Comedy scene including frequenting the Classic Comedy Club and NZ International Comedy Festival where he was nominated for the Billy T Award in 2009. After a 10-year break Dave now returns to the stage to deliver his unique energetic observational stand up.
Our support acts for the night are Katie Boyle, Winner Best Female Comedian, 2021 Comedy Hub Awards, Winner Best Comedy, 2018 Palmy Fringe Festival, Nominated Best Comedy, 2018 Nelson Fringe Festival, Nominated Best Solo Show, 2018 Wellington Comedy Awards.
Also, we are proud to have on the stage: the Raw Comedy Quest winners and runners up from both the Hawke's Bay heats and Regional finals. The best of the new comics in the district. This is a nationwide competition with winners from the regional finals moving directly to the Raw Comedy finals at the home of New Zealand Comedy, The Classic in Auckland.
